Coffee & Conversations: A Chat with Srishti on Tech Packs

Welcome to our Coffee Table Chats, where we give you a casual, behind-the-scenes look at the team that makes Clutch Made special.

In today’s chat, we’re featuring Srishti, our designer, who will reveal the secrets behind creating tech packs that turn your design dreams into stunning, real-world products.

  • Can you share a bit about your background and how you got into creating tech packs?

I’ve always had a passion for design, especially accessories, which led me to earn dual degrees in accessory design. My journey started with a focus on creativity, but as I gained more experience, I realized how essential tech packs are in turning those creative ideas into reality. With a minimalistic design approach, I believe that clear and accurate technical drawings are key to ensuring the final product aligns with the original vision. Working with tech packs allows me to blend creativity with precision, which is crucial in the product development process.

  • Can you explain what a tech pack is and why it's essential in the design process?

A tech pack is a detailed document that outlines all the specifications, measurements, and construction details of a design. It includes technical drawings, material information, and instructions that the manufacturer needs to turn a design into a real product. It’s essential because it ensures that your design is accurately understood and executed, reducing miscommunication during production.

  • How do tech packs help bring a designer’s vision to life during product development?

Tech packs act as a bridge between the designer's creative vision and the manufacturer’s ability to bring it to life. By providing clear and precise instructions, like dimensions, materials, and hardware details, it ensures that the product comes out exactly as the designer intended, keeping the integrity of the original concept intact.

  • What details should a designer always include in a tech pack to ensure accuracy?

Every tech pack should include the product’s measurements, material specifications, hardware details, and color choices. You should also include any special construction notes, like stitching or finishing techniques. The clearer and more detailed the tech pack, the fewer chances there are for errors in production.

  • How do you balance creativity and practicality when creating tech packs for accessories?

Balancing creativity and practicality is about understanding both the design vision and the limitations of production.

While I want to stay true to the design’s aesthetics, I always consider functionality and cost-effective solutions. The tech pack reflects this balance by specifying materials and processes that align with both the creative vision and what’s achievable within production constraints.

  • If tech packs were a superhero, what would their superpower be?

Tech packs would definitely have the superpower of “Precision Perfection”! They’d have the ability to eliminate all ambiguity and ensure every detail of a design is flawlessly communicated to manufacturers. With their precision laser vision, they’d spot any discrepancies before they even become problems, making sure your designs turn out just as you imagined!

If you’re ready to perfect your measurements and finalize your tech pack, let’s set up a Tech Pack consult to guide you through the specs and details. This essential step in the design process will bring you closer to seeing your product come to life!
