Have you ever wondered what it's like to see a product go from an idea to a finished product?
Though tech packs give you a real vision of what your product will look like, sourcing
allows you to understand what your product will feel like.
Usually the first thing we start sourcing is the main fabric of the product. Things we have to consider is if the product is rigid or if it has a soft shape, how durable the product has to be, and if the product has to be cleaned frequently or not.
Most products have hardware whether it be zippers, snaps, magnets, or d-rings.
These all come in a variety of finishes and sizes. With measurements from the tech pack we are able to quickly narrow down which size and length is most appropriate. The harder part is deciding the finish.
The color of hardware you choose has to be cohesive with the rest of the materials you're sourcing. Also, shape and style can vary dramatically depending on where the hardware is sourced so remaining consistent is also important to keep in mind.
